On 20 August, three brothers, Larry (16), Ronnie (14) and Kenny Lunsford (10), set out to explore a cave near Ringgold, Ga. They carried a kerosene lantern but left their matches at the entrance. Their absence was noted by their parents at 5 p.m. that day and, shortly before midnight, the three were rescued by searchers about half a mile inside the cave.
